GHOST: Kick-off of a new EU-funded research project

The international research project "GHOST - Safe-Guarding Home IoT Environments with Personalised Real-time Risk Control" has been started.

Ten companies, organizations and universities  belong to the project consortium, the Technische Universität Darmstadt being the only German partner: University of Geneva (CH), ITI-CERTH (GR), ObrelaSecurity Industries (GR), Technische Universität Darmstadt (DE), Imperial College London (UK), EXUS Software (UK), TELEVES (ES), Spanish Red Cross (ES), Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NO), Thingsmaze (NO).

Starting point of the project are the so called Smart Homes - households in which domestic appliances and multimedia equipment interact and can be centrally remote controlled. These Smart Homes give rise to diverse and complex cyber-security challenges, on which GHOST reacts using a pioneering, software-compatible and usable security solution.

GHOST provides a transparent cyber-security environment for all Europeans living in a networked world: with minimal effort, consumers shall be aware of and understand cyber-security risks and shall make informed decisions regarding their cyber-physical security and privacy.

The project will run for three years starting from May 3rd 2017 and has received funding from the European Union’s Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme under grant agreement No GA-740923 (about 500.000 EUR funding for the Technische Universität Darmstadt, 3,6 Mio. EUR total funding).
