Curriculum Vitae

Karen Renaud is a Scottish Computer Scientist and Senior Lecturer at the University of Glasgow. She was educated at the Universities of Pretoria, South Africa and Glasgow. She has made contributions in the fields of usable security, technology adoption, email usage, electronic voting and design patterns. She recently ran an opinion poll in Glasgow for a local community group, polling a population of 2800. The research group deployed the SMS-based HandiVote system to allow people to place their votes.

In 2013, she was a KIVA Visiting Professor from University of Glasgow and teached Human Centered Security. In 2014, she was again a KIVA Visiting Professor at TU Darmstadt and teached Human Centered Security Experimentation. In 2015, she will be a KIVA Visiting Professor again, teaching Communication and Awareness Aspects in Companies in the Context of Security.
